Self-care at workplaces programme

I treat the work that I do with your company colleagues with the same care, passion, knowledge and capabilities that you do as an employer. My aim is to give your staff members the tools to build and maintain mental and physical strength. My unique approach is in bridging the fields of somatic-embodiment yoga and meditation (tending to the actual experiences in your body) to cultivate lifelong wellbeing. Working with you as an employer, my ambition is to always leave individuals with clearer minds and focus to aid decision making and the ability to support themselves with tools and mindsets that work best for them.

I have developed specialist courses and regular classes focusing on aspects such as stress, anxiety, depression, trauma & grief relief alongside  corporate gatherings and events for people at work adapted to suit different age groups, gender, time, needs and experience:

Several studies have shown that the constant practice of meditation induces neuroplasticity phenomena,

including the reduction of age-related brain degeneration and the improvement of cognitive functions.

More specifically, the effects of meditation are correlated to improvements in attention, working memory, spatial abilities, and long-term memory.

How can meditation support mental health and wellbeing at work?

  • It has been suggested that the practice of meditation is associated to neuroplasticity phenomena, reducing age-related brain degeneration and improving cognitive functions. in the theta band, the meditators showed statistically significant (p corrected = 0.009) higher degree (a centrality index that represents the number of connections incident upon a given node) in the right hippocampus as compared to controls. Taking into account the role of the hippocampus in memory processes, and in the pathophysiology of Alzheimer's disease, meditation might have a potential role in a panel of preventive strategies.

Somatic-embodiment Yoga Meditation techniques have consistently been shown to improve memory retention, enhance executive functions like attention span, boost productivity levelsimprove concentration, and reduce stress and frustration while improving overall well-being and helping to foster a positive work environment.

What is yoga meditation?

Yoga is a practice that involves physical postures, focused breathing, mindfulness and meditation. Yoga has the potential to influence all ways of life, including our daily thoughts and actions, how we understand ourselves at a deep level, and our interactions with the world around us. Although commonly considered a physical practice, yoga has the potential to extend well beyond physical engagement into all aspects of life.

The Sanskit word ‘yoga’ has various meanings and is derived from the Sanskrit root “yuj,” meaning “work,” “coordination,” and “integration” (Frawley). Yoga is defined as “union,” which may be interpreted as a state of oneness with our innermost self. Yoga is often described as the practice of uniting the different parts of ourselves – our physical, energetic, mental, emotional, and spiritual selves.

How can yoga meditation support mental health and wellbeing at work?

The impact of yoga on body image and embodiment, described here as individuals’ lived experiences in their bodies as they engage with the world, has been a recent area of focus in the field of body image and eating disorders. A number of quantitative studies suggest that the practice of yoga is associated with positive ways of living in the body, with yoga practitioners having higher body satisfaction and body responsiveness and awareness . In a qualitative study, participants indicated that yoga had a mainly positive impact on their body image via perceived physical changes, gratitude for one’s body, a sense of accomplishment within one’s yoga practice, self-confidence, and witnessing different types of bodies practicing yoga.
